Priest’s Welcome

Greetings to you, dearly beloved,

in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

I am delighted to welcome you to the website of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Pleasantville, New Jersey. St. Mary’s Episcopal Church is a pleasant, faith based, loving community, where everyone is welcome.

Please join us!

Glimpses of Our Beloved St Mary's

Welcome to St Mary's Church

Our faith community is in affiliation with St. Augustine's Episcopal Church in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Both Episcopal Churches are in affiliation, lifting high the cross of Jesus Christ and the Episcopal ecclesiology in South Jersey.

The affiliation of churches is one of the innovative strategies intended to re-invigorate and strengthen numerically declined churches to enable them to rethink God's mission amid the 21st century missional challenges facing the the church, and to adopt new missional realities that are inclusive, multicultural, and intergenerational. Afffiliated churches  foster collaberative leadership and together engage in new ways of doing church.

As you navigate St. Mary's website, you will realize that St. Mary's is community-oriented through its community programs: ESL ( English as a Second Language), Immigration Services to immigrants, 4th Tuesday Community Food Distribution and our Community Garden that brings together the Pleasantville community.

Finally, you are invited and encouraged to worship with us and become a member, if you desire. The address of St. Mary's Episcopal Church is 118 West Bayview Avenue, Pleasantville, New Jersey.

   Again Welcome,

The Rev. Dr. James D. Wilson ll

Our History

The church of St. Mary The Virgin was founded in 1928 by a group of dedicated Christians who wanted to create a welcoming space for all people. Since then, St. Mary’s has continued to grow as a vibrant community with open doors, serving our church, neighboring communities and those outside our borders.

Our Outreach

Our Outreach

At St Mary's, we believe in taking our faith beyond the walls of our church and into the world. We are involved in a variety of local and global outreach programs, from feeding the hungry to supporting missionaries around the world.

WELCOME TO OUR MINISTRIES, WHERE ALL ARE WELCOME.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION

FOOD DISTRIBUTION

FOOD DISTRIBUTION

Our Food Distribution Program began as a result of an increased need for supplemental food in families of our surrounding community. Our church members, community members, veterans and other churches assist with the distribution.

Judy Morris  heads the Food Distribution Program.

COMMUNITY GARDEN

FOOD DISTRIBUTION

FOOD DISTRIBUTION

The Community Garden was created over 12 years ago with the goal of involving the community in a self- reliant, healthy life style.

Joan Manning-Hill is Manager of the  Community Garden.

ESL CLASSES

ESL classes were instituted over 10 years ago as a result of an increase in the Spanish speaking population in the community.  We are currently experiencing an influx of immigrants, primarily Haitian and demand is ,once again, very high. With teachers from a sister church, volunteers and grants, we thank God for allowing us to assist in their desire to learn English.

Joan Manning-Hill haeds the ESL Program.

IMMIGRATION ASSISTANCE

Immigration services are offered to our ESL students and the local community. They are assisted with paperwork and forms needing online filing. Students have been transported to Pennsylvania and where needed for biometrics and document processing.

Father James N. Wilson ll heads the Immigration Program.

    Holy Baptism

HolyBaptism is the full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s body, the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble.  It is one of the most joyful events we celebrate together.  Any baptized person is welcome to receive Holy Communion and to enter into the life and activities of the congregation.
